You need: e.l.f. Mineral Infused Mascara & HD Powder

TGIF. We survived another week ... high fives all-around.

Today I'm introducing you to two make-up products that I, as a self-proclaimed "e.l.f. connoisseur", think you need in your life: e.l.f. mineral infused mascara ($3) and e.l.f. Studio High Definition Powder ($6).  Revolutionary.

In this picture I'm wearing the e.l.f. natural false lashes ($1) that I've blogged about before, the mineral mascara and the HD powder mentioned above. I have not touched up this photo and it was taken with no flash.

Anytime anyone asks me what to buy from e.l.f., the first thing I suggest to them is the mineral infused mascara

Hands down, the best mascara I've tried in years. The wand NEVER gets clumpy and I, IMHO,  think it looks identical to Clinique mascara and L'Oreal Voluminous, which is what I swore by prior to discovering this magic mascara wand.

Dare I say it?  I will.  I like it better than the Dior that Raven sent me.  I'm telling y'all, just because a make-up company slaps a hefty price tag on something, it does not mean it's better.  You can get quality products for a fraction of the price.

Now, let's chit-chat about the $6 e.l.f. Studio HD Powder. Looks like so:

Have any of you tried the $30 Make-Up Forever HD Powder?  This is it's budget friendly twin. HD powder is a translucent loose powder that sets your foundation while creating a "soft focus" effect to the skin and masks fine lines and imperfections.

Personally, I've never tried the Make-Up Forever version because let's be real, I'm not spending 30 bones on powder.  However, I've heard/read they are identical products.  Just for y'all, I did a quick Google search and found a comparison review of both here and here

I can tell you that I'm a huge fan of the e.l.f. HD powder, but instead of using the application poof it comes with, I prefer to apply with the e.l.f. Professional Total Face Brush ($1).  Reviewed by moi here.

Both powders are made with almost the exact same ingredients except one is going to set you back $30 and the other only $6.  I think we all know what the right decision is here. Don't let me down.

  1. i don't know if i can jump on board with the mascara just yet. i really really like my maybelline (i think) falsies mascara and swear by it. but if you think this stuff is better i'll try it.

  2. I am a solid MU4E HD powder girl. I got the Elf one too... I have been wearing it to work and I have to say it holds up nicely. I however do not fancy that application thingy. I use a flat brush thingy. Technical huh? Anyhoo, I will do you proud tonight and wear the ELF one out... and let you know my thoughts on its ability to stay with me on a night on da town.

  3. Thanks to you, I'm soooo addicted to E.L.F.!!! I have pretty much everything they make now. I really think for the price, it's good quality. I am wanting to try their blush/bronzer duo that's supposed to be a dupe for the Nars Laguna/Orgasm blush/bronzer. If you've tried it let me know!

  4. Guess I'll be buying up some of that mascara!

PS - have you tried the ELF wrinkle filler? It's amaze. It totally deletes my wrinkles and is like a buck???? For real.

  5. I just found a mascara that I loooove for only like $4.50 so I'll probably be sticking with that for a while. BUT I'm pretty sure I need this HD powder. I've heard people talking about the Make-Up Forever kind but, come on, I just can't justify that price tag for powder. Thanks for the review!! {I'm also going to be trying the wrinkle filler as mentioned above!}

  18. Wow--this totally convinces me. I'd been skeptical of e.l.f. because it's so cheap, but you look beautiful and I trust your enthusiasm. Do you have to order the products online, or can you buy them in stores (if so, where?). Thanks to you, I'm gonna try both the mascara & the HD powder. :)

  19. I have been reading your blog for awhile now, and I love it! You totally made me want to try e.l.f. When I saw Groupon do a deal where you get $30 worth of makeup for $15, I just had to try it based on all the reviews that you do of it. Plus, it's cheap! I bought 2 Groupons, and kind of went overboard and spent $60, so I really didn't save anything lol. But I can't wait until it comes in, so I can try it!

  22. I've struggled with finding good mascara that wasn't super expensive because my eyes are really sensitive (I used to use covergirl and I can't even use that anymore) I bought your recommended elf mascara yesterday and tried it. I LOVE it. thank you SOOO MUCH! It does everything that expensive mascaras do and MORE! :) LOVE your blog!!!

  23. i seriously love e.l.f, thanks to you! i absolutely love that face brush ... my favorite one in years! and only for $1. how do you go wrong?!

  24. ELF products are always hit or miss with me. I want to try the mascara though because it seems like drug store and cheaper brand mascaras are better than high end ones!

  29. OMG!! I was at Target yesterday and they have all of their holiday sets out and you will D I E!!! They have all makeup brushes and applicators that come in different colors and that are all blinged out. They came in hot pink, purple and I believe Aqua. LOVED the pink!! The holiday sets looked super fun too and they also had some "caboodle" looking makeup organizers...idk if the products are online yet but I am sure you will love it all! Wanted to blog you about it bc I immediately thought of you!! :)

  30. SO glad to see this review! I bought the e.l.f eyelash curler sometime ago ($1 = free?) and have really loved it - couldn't bring myself to splurge on the much-hyped shu uemura curler. however, I can't say much for the e.l.f bronzer and eye shadow - both were disappointing, BUT at $1 a piece, it was a gamble worth taking. Your blog has really taken off and it's always a fun read - job well done!

  31. I will def. pick up that mascara and HD powder next time I'm at Target and give it a try. I had such high hopes for that Dior mascara and was SOOO disappointed (& mad at myself for spending the $$). I bought some Elf liquid liner recently and have to say I like it. I'm just trying to get to the point where it doesn't take me 4 minutes to do one eye (I wish I were joking...) I've also been using the Ulta liner you recommended and give it a thumbs up!
