Packing, movies and my "modeling" days

I literally only left my house this weekend three times: once for packing supplies, once for Starbucks and once for Buffalo Wild Wings. Throughout the course of packing, I watched a lot of movies: American Reunion, Hangover 2, Bridesmaids, Crazy Stupid Love, What's Your Number and The Change Up.

Thank you HBO for  making packing a little more bearable. I liked all of the movies, but Crazy Stupid Love was definitely my favorite of the bunch. Hello shirtless Ryan Gosling. Can anyone explain to me why Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds were not cast in Magic Mike? I'd like to speak with the casting director about this.
Bear wants to come with me.  Bear is technically my nephew's dog, so he will be staying in Texas.
Who wants to help me puppy shop in Las Vegas?

Taking a break during Crazy Stupid Love
I wish I had more exciting weekend shenanigans to share with you, but I don't. I'm done packing my living room and kitchen. Hallelu-jer! However the the garage and my bedroom (i.e. closet) are going to be the hardest to pack and that is what I shall tackle this week. I should have taken a picture of my garage so you can see its hoarders status. I'm seriously petrified of a rat scurrying out from behind something. Lord help my heart if that happens.

My BFF Liz came over Friday night to help me pack, but we ended up ordering pizza, watching movies and digging through old middle school and high school pictures. It wouldn't be right if I didn't share these two gems with you, so you are welcome.

Rocking my Tommy Hilfiger tankini

I know. I don't have words either.

Kristina (the BFF in Vegas), Liz and I met in middle school and have been BFFs since. One of our favorite pastimes was to have "modeling shoots" at the neighborhood pool and/or our bedrooms (paging Chris Hansen) with our trusty disposable cameras. I can't make this shit up. Oh, to be 13 again.

Olympic Inspired: My vintage gymnastics pics

Olympic hoopla always makes me reminisce about my former life as a competitive gymnast. From age three to 17, you could find me in my velour or spandex at the gym.  Once I started competing around the sixth grade, I was at the gym five days a week for four hours a day.  During meet season, my weekends were spent with my Mom traveling around the state for competitions.  It was the only way of life I knew and I can't imagine growing up any other way.

Needless to say, watching the Team U.S.A. women's gymnastics team compete is very exciting for me and brings me back to me "old gymnastics days".  I have not had a chance to watch the all-around competition from last night, but I already know the outcome!  Don't get me started on that two gymnasts per country rule because that is straight up dumb. The top 24 ladies should compete regardless of what country they are from.

Please enjoy my vintage gymnastics pics. You are about to embark on quite the bang and scrunchie adventure.

*Side note - I used my iPhone to take pictures of old school disposable camera photos. My apologies for the picture quality.

Oh and I dabbled in competitive cheerleading my senior year of high school.

There are a lot more gymnastics pics where these came from, but I just grabbed a few to upload.  I hope you enjoyed some throwback Bargain Blonde.

What is your favorite sport to watch at the Olympics and why?

Start each day like it's your birthday!

1 / 2 / 3 / 4
Love that quote.  And how gorgeous is that tablescape and those cakes?  To die.

By the time y'all are reading this I'll probably be on my way to the airport to pick up Beth.  While I'm out galavanting around Dallas with her hoping she doesn't slice me, why don't y'all take a trip down memory lane?

I had my Mom dig up some old birthday pics of her little Lindsey Lee.  You'll see a few years of the infamous mullet and I'm still not happy with her about that.  She claims it was the style, but I beg to differ. I can promise you my child will NEVER have a mullet.

Thanks for all the early birthday wishes yesterday, Happy Birthday to me!

From what I'm told, this was what I called my "Madonna" dress and I was obsessed with it. Pretty sure Madonna never had a mullet.

Me & bro bear at my 5th birthday.  Still rockin' the mullet. Is my nephew not his twin?

Look at that trick trying to steal my spotlight and me mid-push trying to get her out of the way.

Yikes, thank goodness for self tanner.  The awkward middle school years. In case you're wondering, yes that's a jean skort.

Nothing sexy about this.  That much I know.

Gag me with a spoon!

A few weeks ago during my Confession Session, I said I was going to a 80s party, but had nothing to wear (story of my life).  Well, I've been meaning to blog about my bargain 80s outfit, and since today is "Pop Into the 80s" Day at work, I thought what better time than now?

I recycled the outfit for work, which was all found at Plato's Closet for around $50.  Sunglasses, purse, heels, leggings, skirt, tank and headband!  Holla.

Here is me and my hubby Robert (dressed as Boy George) at the Totally "Gay-ties" Party a few weeks ago:

I believe you need a close up of my heels, which were quite a hit at the party and today at work.  LOVE THEM and they WILL be making a Vegas appearance.  I just think they scream Vegas!

You most  certainly can't have a totally awesome 80s party without Pop Rocks:

The aftermath of getting 80s ready.  Where is that maid of mine?  Make-up and hair product explosion:

And lastly and in totally unrelated news, what do y'all think of this antique Italian candy dish I'm using as a candle holder on my bar?  I got it on Monday and it was only $12.99.  I really like it!

So girls, channel your inner eighties and tell me what you love most about this decade.  Granted, I was in diapers in the 80s, but I love the bright colors and big hair.

Oh, did I mention I had to go to Target looking like this at 8 a.m. this morning?  I told the woman making my Starbucks, I swear I don't normally dress like this to which she replied, "Oh honey, I'm not judging!"  Sure you aren't.

We're finally melting + Super Bowl hoopla

Happy Monday, Dallas has just about thawed out!  Well, except for the parking lot by my apartment where the sun doesn't hit.

Last night I was walking over to my brother's apt (he lives in the same building) to take him an ice pack since he slipped on the ice and popped his ankle when what do you know?  I slipped myself and my brand new Blackberry Torch caught my fall, which shattered the screen on my phone.  This is why I can't have nice things!  The good news is I have insurance on my phone and I can get a replacement, so  I suppose it's not the end of the world.

Other than the continuation of this crazy weather, another big event was going on here.  You may have heard about it ... the Super Bowl?  It's been hectic in the Big D to say the least.

Saturday night my best friend Liz and I went to the Bud Light Hotel for the Pitbull, Ke$ha and Nelly concert. We waited in the LONGEST line of our lives, and I never want to relive that again. Literally over 2 hours standing in high heels.  However, once we got inside the concert, it was worth the wait and a lot of fun.  Here are some photos from our evening:

Liz and I on our way to the concert.

Isn't she such a fashionista?  Her sequin blazer is Forever 21.  My clutch is vintage from my Grandma and I get more compliments than you could ever imagine on this purse.  You can't see all detail on it, I'll have to take a pic of it and post.  Thanks Grandma!!

Posing on the step and repeat pretending to be celebs.

During the concert. Love her, besties since 6th grade!

Pitbull performing.  When we finally got inside, he was already singing.  We missed most of his performance, boo!

The stage right when we walked into the performance tent.  Pitbull performing his last song.

We were too far back in the crowd to get a good picture, but here is Ke$ha performing.

So many hands in the air taking pics, and I was too short to reach.

Nelly was the last act.  We were a little closer for his performance.

I wish I got better pictures!
So that about sums up my weekend.  I tried to stay away from the Super Bowl madness as much as possible, but this concert was my one exception.  I didn't even watch the game last night except I caught part of the half-time show.  I just can't get into the NFL, I stick to college football.  Did you have an exciting Super Bowl weekend?  What did you do?  Any of you Dallas peeps spot a celeb?
