Sunday Funday: The I'm getting a gun edition

Before I get into why I spent an hour last night crouched down in my apartment with 2 kitchen knifes, a flash light and 911 ready to be dialed on my phone, let's talk about the pleasant part of my "Sunday Funday".

So, my Sunday started off pretty average.  I woke up, ate a bowl of cereal, went to Starbucks for a latte and hit up Bed, Bath & Beyond to look for a curtain panel for my guest room.

I ended up with this Nicole Miller Chateau panel in blush, which I used a $10 off $30 coupon.  FYI - BB&B coupons never expire even though they have an expiration date on them.
I got the curtain to block light and sound for when my nephew naps.  I wasn't sure how I felt about the panel pulled to one side look, it has grown on me.  What do y'all think?
Once the curtain was hung, my intent was to tackle cleaning and laundry. What I'd tackled instead was my couch, a bowl of popcorn, a pickle and a coke zero. It's obvious where my priorities lie:

After I got caught up on Real Housewives NYC (Was Sonja serious with that burlesque poem?  Insert me giving her major side eye from my couch.) Watch What Happens Live and Teen Mom, I decided to start some laundry and pick the crack den up a little before Big Brother started.

Any other Big Brother fans out there?  Hands up!!  Jeff and Jordan aka "JeJo" aka my favorite BB players ever are back in the game and I could not be more excited about it:

[via] LOVE them.

Now, let's fastforward to around 10:15 p.m. shall we?  There I was minding my own business watching Diane Sawyer's Primetime Interview Special with Jaycee Duggard when BAM!   An unidentified object slams into my patio window.

First thought: "Umm, ok Lindsey ... don't panic.  I'm sure it's nothing."

Second thought: "WHAT IF THERE IS AN INTRUDER CREEPING ON THE PATIO TRYING TO BREAK IN?  GET YOUR PHONE IN CASE YOU NEED TO DIAL 911, GRAB SOME KNIFES AND HIDE."

I mean, literally this could not have happened at a worse time.  I'm sitting in the dark watching a story about a kidnapped girl who was held against her will for years.  I was convinced I was about to become the next Jaycee Duggard.  With a flashlight, my phone set to dial 911 and these in hand:
I mustard up enough courage to peek through my patio blinds to see if anyone was there. Deep sigh .... no one on the patio.

Oh, but wait ... who is the shirtless, tatted up man pacing back and forth in the parking lot?  Awesome.  Why was he shirtless (shirt in his hand) and why was he pacing back and forth??  Questions I still don't know the answer to.

After an hour of me crouched in the dark keeping an eye on this freak, he finally disappeared.  I baracaded myself in with my barstools at the doors (just in case) and went to bed.  The moral of  the story is, I watch way too many real-life crime stories and I've decided I need a gun. I hope your Sunday didn't involve any questionable characters & let's hope no unidentified objects get thrown at my window tonight.  The end!

  1. um seriously freaking scary. im glad you're alive. i used to watch unsolved mysteries too much as a kid and it was always when i was home alone and then i would sit in places where there were no windows because i swear someone was gonna try to break in and kidnap me.

and what i wouldnt give for popcorn right now. andre popped popcorn last night for us and i asked why they didnt have butter on theirs. he told me it did have butter. i dont know about norway, but in the US butter actually has a taste and enhances flavor. blahhhh...

anyways hope u had a great weekend girl!

  2. I vote "yes" on the panel pulled to one side.

    Coke Zero is my faaavorite!

The Jaycee Dugard special was intense! I'm guessing I would have done the same thing as you had that happened to me! NOT the time to have some creeper outside. Ugh. You poor thing. I've got my fingers crossed that you have a quiet, peaceful night tonight! P.S. love the picture with the knives! Haha

  5. Linds!
So freaking glad you are alive. I would be so scared. I hate crap like that and this is why I have a gun in our nightstand and the hubby use to keep a shotgun under the kitchen counter. Once when he was gone for a few days, I felt like someone was literally breaking into the apartment, scariest thing ever. I literally set on the floor by the bed with the gun loaded and safety off for about 2 hours until everything went silent. :-( SOOO I vote yes on getting a gun!

  6. I think we may be the same person. We do have the same name, so chances are good.

So many things that I love about this post.

    1. I had a pickle for dinner the other night. Nothing else just a pickle, because I was too lazy to go to the grocery store and buy groceries.
    2. I had intentions to clean this weekend also, but all I got done was watching all my dvr which included New Jersey and NY housewives...I don't understand Sonja sometimes.
    3. I love love big brother. Jeff and Jordan are my fav.
    4. I tell my mom all the time that I need a taser or a gun. I watch Criminal minds, I know what happens to single gals who live by themselves. I got your back on this one.

Glad everything was ok : )

  7. Oh my gosh Lindz! Hahaha, we would NEVER make good room mates. First, I love all those dateline and primetime specials. I watch them, and the second I hear something, I think my life is over!! Not only that, I would not be there comforting you...I WOULD BE HOGGING THE KNIVES from you!!

That is SOO weird though. Have you talked to your neighbors about it?? Hmmm.

  8. Cahreepster! I have also slept with a knife next to my bed after hearing something scary outside. I wish my dog wasn't a barker, but sometimes it's a good thing to have an alarm!

  9. Oh my goodness, I was be soo terrified. I live with my grandparents so thankfully I'm not home alone often but when I am I hate it. I'm such a scardycat!

  10. Glad you're okay! I would feel the same way and I'd be totally paranoid about the guy outside pacing back & forth!

  11. It must have been a full moon last night because I was hearing things and thankfully, do own a gun, just in case :)
    HUUUUGE BIG BROTHER FAN!

  12. glad you're alive :) also, serious side eye for sonja. what was that?! awful.

  13. How did you even fall asleep after that!? OH MY GOSH. I watch Criminal Minds like it's my job, and those epis are enough to make a girl ca-razy. Whenever I'm watching my little sisters, I turn into a super paranoid mama who sleeps with one eye open and lights on. But really... I don't sleep. I am a zombie the next morning

  14. Um, how did I know you were watching that story too? I almost texted you ... LOL

And um .... I woulda called 911 in a heartbeat. People are crazy.

  15. I seriously was so worried for you last night when you tweeted this! I def would have called the police- that guy sounds like a nut job! I wonder if he thought someone else lived there?

  16. You sound like me! I always say I'm gunna clean, do laundry and things around the house, but I end up watching TV instead. Not sure what's wrong with me there, but gotta admit it's better than cleaning ;)

  17. Glad to hear you are ok!! I get scared out of my mind at creepy stuff like that. We had a dude come knock on our door one night asking to come in and use the phone, wanting food, you name it, he wanted it. We live in a pretty secluded neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac with no street lights. I was totally on board with getting a gun after that episode.

I have had all intentions of cleaning today as well, but instead found myself watching tv, on pinterest, and blogging. Oh well!!

  18. I can seriously see you now! I was the same way last night(well the scared part) We watched roomate and I was terrified. Obvisouly my roomate was going to be psycho but there are people that are! Sad part we do watch real life tv but it's real and people suck!

  19. WTF?! So glad you're safe! That's way too creepy. I always get freaked out at my apt because I live in Hollyweird alone. I feel safe that I have my dog...who would either hide or play with a murder so she's no help...

  20. haha that it hilarious!! :) glad it was just a scare!

  21. I think I would have called the cops. I don't think I could have handled being crouched alone. EEK!

  22. Ha ha ha bless your heart I would have done the SAME thing! maybe it was a bird.. they fly into my windows all the time at the office. Scares the pee outta me. I am glad you iz safe love bug

  23. Holy SHIZZZZZ. Yeah girl, I woulda called 911 STAT! How scary! Oh and i love me some Big Brother and Jordan is my fav :)

  24. Ahhhh that's so scary!!!!

I watch wayyy too many crime shows too. Whenever I'm home alone I get freaked out by any little noise. I also run full-speed down the hall to my bedroom in the dark. (Oh wait. I do that even when people are home.)

    I'm such a baby.

    Glad you're okay!!!!

  25. P.S. Two minutes after I read this something loud crashed in the hallway and I jumped a mile. Still have no idea what it was, but now I'm freaked out haha.

  26. So obviously it's not funny at the time, but looking back, it's always funny how real life and/or scary movies can totally psych you out. I remember when I was a kid that Unsolved Mysteries would always freak me out. lol!

    I like the curtain!

  27. You should get a stun gun. We had one at the last salon I worked at. It looked like a cell phone but then *ZAP* you could just shock the daylights out of someone. I took it out on the town a few nights with me. It made for some great entertainment. =)

    ReplyDelete
  28. well I knew all about creepy guy before all these gangstas before me so THERE! me=cool.

So wait, all that keeps the light out when Reese naps is a curtain? I mean, I love it, love the color, but I have plastered my kids' windows with tin foil. Every single square inch of the windows in their room is covered with tin foil. Makes for a white trash lookin' house from the outside but makes for one happy rested momma on the inside, cause with the tin foil? not even a sliver of light seeps in. So my kids have no idea when the sun comes up therefore they can't rise with the sun. I'm so smart.

Sonja is a crackhead. She be CRAZY.

BB. gosh I love that show. Hey I have a fantastic idea. YOU GO ON THE SHOW! seriously! Maybe you will meet your Jeff there. Wait, no, you are meeting him on August 13th at a restaurant with Patty. Still go on BB though.

so glad you are alive. I would be so sad if that shirtless man came and ravaged you and I couldn't BBM you all night long. My prayers have been answered.

  29. oh my!!! I'm glad everything ended up being ok :) ... i need to watch this interview... I heard it was crazy from other people too. Must Google search it. (since i'm out of the country)

  30. Oh I love the curtain!!
I'm glad that you did not have to call 911! I do the same thing as you, I watch way too much TLC on Saturdays when they play all the "when husbands kill" and such. Then I'm a crazy person at night and creep around my house. I should probs have learned my lesson by now but it's too good not to watch!

    ReplyDelete
  31. omg that is so scary so glad you're OK!!!! but i understand, I am always watching crime dramas and freaking myself out. i quadruple check my locks when i'm alone and i'm paranoid in parking garages!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love the curtain! I went to school in Albany, NY and stayed to take a summer class. The area is kind of ghetto. However, over the summer no one is around. I would literally sleep with a baseball bat next to me because I thought someone would break in.
    Glad you are ok!

  33. holy crap that sounds like a scary experience! glad you're ok! when i lived alone 2 yrs ago i seriously thought about investing in a handgun. though, idk if i could ever shoot anyone. instead i got me some police grade pepper spray and kept it by my bed. that's always a good thing to have. just don't spray yourself accidentally. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  34. that's pretty scary!
you're brave for living on your own, I don't think I could ever do that because I get scared way too easily!
I'm glad you are ok though! good thinking with the knives and barricading the door!

Btw, come by my page, because you've won an award!

  35. OMG! watching a ton of crime shows or not, that would be terrifying!!!! I was home by myself from school one day in like 6th grade and I heard someone come in. I was trembling under the computer desk and having a heart attack. turned out to be my brother coming home from college on a surprise whim. he still teases me for it!! =]

    ReplyDelete
  36. Get a shotgun!! They sound awesome when you rack them, which will scare the crap out of anyone if they are breaking in...and they don't require much aim when shooting since all the pellets spread out when it is fired. Also- as a former cop, I highly suggest calling the cops next time...just tell them there is a suspicious person outside and give them a good description...it gives cops probable cause to talk to him! :)

  37. Okay, totally just stumbled upon your blog but girl I have sat here and almost laughed at this. Not at you of course, but me because this sounds EXACTLY like something I would do. People make fun of me because I grab my phone "in case" alll the time!!!

    love the blog!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Bless your heart!!! I would have had to take about 3 tylenol PMs to sleep after that one. And PS- i definitely would have proceeded just like you- ie barricading myself & then kicking it with the knives :) I also probably would have bribed someone to come stay with me. You = seriously brave

  39. The panel pulled to one side looks great! That sounds liek a scary evening - next time just call the cops! We've had scary people actually banging on our door before and I wont put up with it - i called the cops and they came and took the guy to hospital (he was so drunk he fell down the stairs) but better the hospital than my front door! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. so glad meth head didn't kill you...but i'm pretty positive with those two knives you would have been able to handle it. we'd have to figure out someone to play you in the dateline re-enactment or lifetime movie. i'm going for reese witherspoon or kate hudson.

and that bed is already calling my name...ONE MONTH!

and i'm super pumped you broke the news to me that jeff and jordan were back on BB! can't wait to watch tonight. jeff is by far my favorite player ever and it doesn't hurt that he's hot and super funny!

  44. That sucks. I'm a scared person, when I was younger I always had to check locks before going to sleep so if anything like this happened i'd probably move. Plus it's illegal to have guns in the uk. Fail. x hivenn

  46. Oh my gosh I feel for you! My bf has been out of town 7 of the last 9 days and he is gone until this Saturday and I am freaking myself out every night!! I seriously think every single noise I hear, every time my dog barks, every time I think I see something out of the corner of my eye that someone is going to break in!! I don't know when I became so scared in my own house but it is ridiculous and we decided we both would feel safer if there was a gun in the house. I never thought I would own a gun but I think just having one would make me feel better! Anyway, I'm glad nothing happened at your house. Fingers crossed I can get through the rest of the week without a nervous breakdown! ;)

  47. OMG!! Something like this happened to me!! So glad you are ok! Except my fiance has guns and so I grabbed one, went to the door where someone was pounding, proceeded to scream at them and hold the barrel of the gun against the door ready to shoot through it!! Scary! Oh yea, I was home alone too. Turns out it was fiance's drunk ass friends being dumb! They learned their lesson that night! Retards almost got shot!

  48. Your story is terrifying! I'm glad you're okay - you totally still should have called 911, though!! Better safe than sorry!
