Hair how-to: Loose curls with curling iron

Well, well, well.  There were so many sweet compliments (thank y'all!) about my hurrr in yesterday's post that I decided to forgo the NOLA recap until tomorrow and bring you a hair how-to today instead.

Believe it or not, what I use to create this look was this Remington 1.5 inch ceramic curling iron, which I recently purchased from Big Lots for only 10 bones.  I love it, it works like a charm and is pink and black. Need I say more?

I let my hair air dry yesterday and this is the masterpiece I am left with.  Are you green with envy?

Next, comb any tangles out and section your hair with clips.  The ones I'm using from Sally's Beauty Supply come 12 to a pack and are only $1.99 from what I recall?  No need to straighten before curling.

Whoopsies, I almost forgot: Be sure to spray each individual curl with hair spray after you release the curling iron.  Once you have finished your entire head, spray again.  I use and highly recommend Elnett (my fave) by L'Oreal.

A few of you were wondering if my hair is real and yes, it is all mine.  If I had extensions, I'd most definitely be the first one to tell you girls where to go get them for a bargain.  This is the result of genetically thick hair and $5 Tresemme shampoo and conditioner.  Happy curling!

  6. I can never curl my hair properly! I might give it another try... Maybe I am curling it towards instead of away from my face?? Speaking of extensions, if anyone is interested in hearing more about them, my friend Jamie got them and blogged about it. They look real!

  12. Um, ok.

I've always been envious of your waves. My hair is EXACTLY like yours, when it air dries and um ...

I'm tried and tried your 'way' with the flat iron. To no avail, I end up tying my hair back and looking like scum that day.

I guess I shall try again, now that I have pix.

And um .... happy hour next week????? Mon, Tue? Aaron will be w/ me, so he can keep Eva!!!!

  17. Oh how cute! I think my hair needs to be a leeeetle longer to do this.

BTW I finally went to Big Lots. The one nearest me had lots of good stuff, but it was just not clean, so I'm going to find a nicer one!

  19. So so pretty!! I have so much hair and it's a combo of annoying waves (not pretty like yours...like, huge waves) and stick straight. And it's really thick. I don't have the patience to do it anymore.

I'm a new follower! I look forward to reading more of your posts! (Sorry about the ankle...I hope you feel better soon!)

  21. Thanks for this how-to. I am somewhat retarded when it comes to my hair. It's pretty much down and straight everyday. Would love to wear it curly, but it takes me soooo long to do and I'm lazy in the morning :)

  23. Yeah yeah, I curl my hair like that and totally don't get those results. Maybe it's cause I don't use hairspray. I just don't like it.

  24. I love it! I curl my hair like that a lot, and for some reason the right side turns out fine but the left is a hot mess. Oh, who am I kidding? My hair is a hot mess in general. Geeez
