And then there were two ...

Two regions left!   It's not Chi-town as many of you guessed.  Tomorrow I will mark off the last region and reveal where I'm moving and what I'll be doing at this dream job of mine!

Now, all it comes down to this:

West vs. East

While I am so so so so (did I say so?) excited for my new job, I'm not excited about moving.  There is nothing I hate more than packing and moving and unpacking.  Kill. Me. Now.

I moved last October and I have not recovered from that yet.  In fact, our garage looks like an episode of hoarders.  Not only do I get to pack up my house, I have to unpack what I just threw in our garage when we moved in.  Andddd, I have a week and a half to get it all done.  No big deal.

I found these free downloadable packing labels via pinterest that I thought I would share with you ladies in case any of you are also moving.

via

I am going to use them to label the contents of my boxes.  Wish me luck!  Any packing/moving tips are greatly appreciated.  I know some of you have recently made a big move.  I need all the help I can get.

See you ladies back here tomorrow for Friday Faves/My big reveal!

  6. Aww, Chicago would have loved to have you. Yes, I speak for my entire city.

We will be moving soon too and while I can't wait to have a bigger place, I'm dreading the packing/unpacking part. I'm going to use it as an exercise to get rid of a whole lotta crap. So just look at it that way. Early Spring Cleaning!

  7. Moving is probably the world's biggest pain in the ass. I think the labels will help tremendously. I always feel better after packing boxes of books . . . it's easy to do and makes me feel accomplished. ;) I also love getting rid of stuff. Even though I'm not moving, maybe you'll inspire me to do a major purge. Too much clutter round these parts!

Another recommendation: have a friend come over and sit on your bed and talk to you as you pack stuff. That's the only way I've ever gotten stuff done.

  9. I hate packing too. But in a weird, OCD way, I LOVE unpacking after a move. I never feel more organized than I do after moving! :)

Do you already have a place to live? I can't wait to come visit :)

  13. I just moved back in May and I would say the thing that helped the most was labeling EVERYTHING. You've already got a great start w/ those printable lables. I literally wrote down every single item I put in each box. My bf though I was a crazy OCD person, but we were able to get everything unpacked within 3 hours of moving! (It also helps if you're desperate for a pair of scissors or some other odd item because you'll be able to locate it faster!)

Another recommendation would be to pack the contents of your closet in wardrobe boxes - another huge time saver. Everything stays on its hanger and you just move it from closet to box to new closet.

I realllllly hope you are moving to the northeast! I'm in NYC & would be happy to welcome you here :)

  22. My Boyfriend and I recently moved (January) all the way across Canada (Toronto Ontario to Vancouver British Columbia) that’s about 3000 miles flying and 6000 driving!!! We opted to fly and have our stuff ship out to us. I spend about 2 weeks packing our stuff very diligently. It was put in a transport truck with a bunch of other peoples things and who knows what happens once we wave it good bye (I am sure the movers aren’t as gentle with my mirrored bedside tables as I am.) I recommend looking at youtube videos on how to properly pack. Remember to pack all breakables standing up! So don’t wrap you wine glasses and lay them in the box STAND THEM UP, trust me on this, even with plates have them back to back vertically not laying down. The pressure of things on top will break them if you leave them laying down. Also if you are having your stuff shipped don’t write out ALL the contents of a box…this makes it very easy for “just anyone” to figure out what’s valuable to them and what’s not. (not everyone is as honest as you'd like) oh and one major tip, remember to BREATH! You'll be fine and eventually you’ll be all settled in your new home laughing about how it took your movers over a month to deliver your stuff and how you spent four weeks sleeping on a blow up mattress and having to drink wine(or juice)on the floor out of a water bottle cut in half as a glass….Yes those are the memories you'll laugh and share with your children one day.

    GOOD LUCK!

  23. Labeling the "general" contents of your boxes is SO HELPFUL! We moved (with the military) 3x in 5 years and one of the times didn't see our stuff for about 8 weeks. So of course we forgot what was in the boxes. Another suggestion that I didn't do but have though of since is to use your phone to take a pic of the box label and then a pic of the inside of the box (to help you remember what's what). Ah! I so understand you on the "throwing stuff in the garage" because I did that at our last house. Stuff got moved to our current house that was never removed from the box at my old house. Sad and pathetic I know. Best of luck to you!!!!

  24. I moved this passed weekend and it's AWFUL. My house literally looks like a tornado blew in. My closet is literally spread from the entry way and shoes are in every single room! Good Luck! I saw where you're moving on FB so I won't give it away, but congrats!!!

  25. You are TOTALLY moving to Buffalo, New York. Called it! ;) Anyway, since now I finally dooo know where you'll be trotting off to, I'm even more excited to get all the details about what you'll be doing. Do I see another "how I make that money, honey" post on the way??

As far as packing/moving: I got nothing. Trial and friggin' error and that still doesn't help. But MOVERS do. I packed up all my shiz in boxes and they loaded it all PERFECTLY into the moving truck... in about five minutes. Amazing. Oh and I also rolled all of my clothes instead of folding them. Easier and saves space if you ask me. You better document all of your moving shenanigans for us :)

  26. Moving is THE WORST! I hate it so much. Specially moving from completely opposite sides of the country, ugh. I moved from Washington State to Washington DC right after high school for college. God that was torture. I hope it never happens again haha

  27. I am guessing either California (L.A.) or New York! Can't wait to find out! That is exciting!

  29. Still hoping it is region 1 haha :D I love moving only because I love living in new places. The packing not so much, but the unpacking doesn't bother me. I get pretty excited about it actually.
    Those moving labels are cute!

  30. When we moved into our house, I seriously left everything in the dresser drawers and just loaded it that way. It saved a lot of time later!

  31. So with you. I absolutely DREAD packing. And un-packing. There is nothing good about it. I'll be in the same situation in about 6 months and at that point, your's will be a bad memory while mine is a reality. FML.

    OH-and hire movers girlfriend!

  32. Those printables are awesome, definitely re-pinned them for future use!

I'm calling either California or Massachusetts. :) I can't wait to know the big news!

  33. I am voting for Utah. Why? Because it is super random....and I just moved from Texas to Utah. (all by myself! eeeks). Moving tip...whatever you do, DO NOT USE FINEST MOVERS. They've had my stuff for a month now and won't tell me when they will ship it. I'm getting quite nervous and have filed complaints with the BBB and US Department of Transportation. Other than that, good luck :)
