Pour one out for my homie: Sephora Collection Mineral Loose Powder Foundation

Figures. I would get addicted to this foundation after it's been discontinued.  Pour one out ...

Allow me to fill you in on the story, which goes a little something like this:

I peruse Sephora during a lunch break one day.  The usual.

I spy the above Sephora Collection Mineral Loose Powder Foundation in a bin for $4 bones.

I say to myself, "No way can it be that price. I must buy immed."

Turns out I fall in love a.k.a. I am obsessed with the coverage and ridiculously easy application care of my new pink bedazzled e.l.f. gem Kabuki brush.  Exhibit A:
Yes, you need in your life. Target has a ton of e.l.f.'s new gem collection tools.

Naturally, I start wearing this foundation every day.

I decide I should stock up before I run out.

I venture to Sephora dot com to buy some more, which brings me to exhibit B:

DAMN YOU SEPHORA!  Whhhhyyyyyy?????

I should have known better than to cheat on my beloved e.l.f.  I know you can't see me, but I'm shaking my fist in the air.

Plan B: Frantically scoured the e.l.f. Web site for mineral loose powder foundation because I refuse to pay Bare Minerals $28 price tag.

 Badda bing:

e.l.f. Mineral Personal Blend Foundation SPF 15 - $8

Badda boom:

e.l.f. Mineral Foundation - $5

I am going to try the Personal Blend option first because my skin is either ghost white or fake tan and this will allow me to control the shade of color.

God bless e.l.f.  I swear, I don't know what I did before e.l.f. was in my life.  I am ordering stat and I will follow-up with a review.

Is anyone else obsessed with mineral foundation?  What do you recommend?

  1. you could be addicted to make up forever products like me and pay $40...then realize in norway to replace the problem you can pay $40 for maybelline and it makes you want to cry.

    am i bitter? maybe...

please let us know how another works! and please send me that kabuki!

  5. I use the ELF mineral foundation! I love it, but it doesn't have a lot of coverage so I mix it with a heavier foundation.

  7. I too quickly became addicted to Sephora's mineral powder and when I went to re-order and saw the same shocking news, well... I haven't been the same since. I bought Ulta's mineral powder which is $14 but it was buy one get one free=$7, I can handle that. But, now I am going to patiently wait for your elf review because for $5... I don't need to say more! :)

  9. I seriously hate it when a product I love gets discontinued! And I love that blingy pink brush. Totally going to get me one.

  10. You should check out my blog and my post from Tuesday "the not so hot side of cosmetics". You would be shocked at the horrible things in those powders even though they are "mineral"! Try lavera and/or 100% pure! Just trying to help! (:

i actually have a drug store brand one...like...mattee mouuse? or soemthing? and when i use it i like it a lot because its so easy to control shade like u said!

you should be ELFs personal spokeswoman! :-) The Bargain Elf. And you can dress like an elf just for fun...hahah now im going too far

  13. I love e.l.f!!!! Half of what is in my makeup bag is e.l.f.! LOVE it all. I used to use bare minerals then switched to clinique. Both good, but both are expensive. I ordered the e.l.f. mineral foundation a couple days ago. Anxious to try it!

  14. I'm excited for you to blog about the e.l.f. mineral powder. I've been debating on trying it.

I should get the HD stuff in the mail next week, I've been dying to try that as well.

  16. for my damn acne face, mineral foundation is just not enough. i do some cover up and then mineralize on top of that, but i can't go just loose powder. i'll scare the children away.

  18. you're gonna have to let me know about that elf mineral powder because I LOVE me my bare minerals and you may have convinced me on the mascara but I don't think anything could compare to my bare.

  19. I used to always wear Bare Minerals and I swore that I would wear cheap everything else before I EVER gave up my Bare Minerals. Then, thanks to you, I discovered the ELF brand... and I purchased the mineral powder on a whim, and I honestly can't tell the difference!

  20. I keep meaning to buy e.l.f. thanks to you, but haven't seen the mineral makeup in stores. I wear Bare Minerals but frankly can't afford it this Xmas season--too much $$ spent on gifts! I'm going on the hunt for e.l.f. mineral foundation STAT. Thanks!

I love your blog by the way. It's one of my faves. You make me laugh daily. :)

  21. You'll have to let me know how you like the ELF soon, I just paid the baremin pricetag and cried a little. havent opened it yet though so if ELF measures up then I'll just have to do a little switcheroo! That would certainly be amazing!

I also loveee Youngblood and MAC's mineral powder.. but again with the pricetag.

look at you going and saving the day with ELF, again.

  23. I love elf stuff! I have been trying to decide it if I should make the switch to 'adult makeup' but elf just keeps coming out wit winners!

  24. I'm anxiously awaiting your review! I am a Bare Minerals girl, so I'm semi-skeptical that this will compare.

  25. I loove mineral foundation! Specially during the summer time. I use the bare minerals one, and it has lasted me for yearssssss!

  26. Love mineral powder! But I use it as a finishing powder. I can't break away from my Laura Mercier luminous liquid foundation. Ulta's mineral powder is great and a great price. Excited to hear how you like the E.l.f.

  28. I have to say I do shell out the money for bareMinerals loose powder, but I have been supplementing a lot of elf into my routine and I haven't really come across anything I haven't liked. I LOVE the mineral booster which works like the bareMinerals mineral veil. And I think it's like $2 or $3.

  29. I am loyal to clinique so I have never tried any bare minerals.......I think people either swear by it or HATE it! I hope the elf stuff works out! I love how inexpensive it is! That makes it easy to try out thing without spending an arm and a leg!!!!!

  32. Please let me know ASAP about this because I DO shell out the $28 for Bare Minerals and would love not to. :)

  33. I'm a fairly new follower, and already you've saved me big bucks! I've been wanting a quality mineral foundation for quite some time, but like others wasn't willing to pay the hefty price tag that comes with the Bare Minerals brand.
I'd never heard of E.L.F. before today... and I am already hooked! I looked up their products, watched some of the videos they have linked with them and made my purchase! Merry Christmas to me!!!
And as an added bonus, I got the 100 Eyeshadow Palette for FREE cause I bought a bunch of goodies :D
Once you go E.L.F. you'll never go back :D

  34. i love mineral foundation....after using it, it is hard to consider ever using anything else. I have tried Sheer Minerals, Bare Minerals (the best so far, but im with you on the price thing) and now im using plain ole' covergirl. Doesnt seem to last as long as the other two, but still pretty good.

I will have to try e.l.f.!! thanks for the tip!
