Baby Bloggers - Part 2

Hello ladies!  Today I want y'all to meet Ashlyn and Sarah!  Sorry this intro is short but we're off to the pool for bagels and coffee.  Can you believe it's only 10 a.m. in Hawaii?  The time change is totally throwing me off.  I can't wait to recap this trip.

Who is this baby?
Your Name: Ashlyn Williams

Your Blog Name: let it be beautiful {formally: my unrehearsed life}

Meaning behind your blog name: I have always loved the words 'Let it Be' -- so much that I would l o v e to have them tattooed on me somewhere. But since I am going into the medical field getting another tattoo isn't exactly what they consider professional, so out the window that goes. I also adore all things pretty -- from tulips & mason jars to lillies & lace. I am a fan of flowers just because it's Tuesday & kisses before sunrise. So when I kept coming back to these too things it hit me that 'Let it be beautiful' was my new blog name.

Blog Established: May 17, 2011.

Current follower count: I currently have 150 GFC followers, but was one of the unlucky ones that lost all my GFC followers on March 1st :/

Get to know this Baby
1. Why did you start blogging? I started this blog last year as a creative outlet that was about my life. Being in grad school studying to be a Physicians Assistant only let me focus on medicine {even thought I love that} but I really needed a place to be creative!  Over the last several months my goal for this blog has changed. I have always LOVED graphic design, interior design, photography, color, fashion, + type -- so since January I have changed the focus of my blog to be just that. & I have enjoyed blogging MORE than ever. I even recently started my own design part of the blog & I really enjoy helping others make their blog beautiful!

2. What do you hope to gain from blogging? I hope to gain more confidence when it comes to my ideas + inspirations. I use to think that I wasn't creative enough or that I didn't have what it took to teach myself photoshop + illustrator or photography or even how to design my own blog -- but I proved myself wrong. I hope to meet more amazing + inspirational bloggers. That is one thing that I LOVE about blogging -- because without some of these amazing friendships that I have made along the way I probably would have quit blogging a long long time ago -- because they ARE what keep me going!

3. Name 3 established blogs you look up to and why.

DESIGN LOVE FEST :: I absolutely LOVE Bri Emery's blog. Everytime I go to her blog I could spend hours on it with her sense of style, color, design, + the fact that I can see her personality through her writing, which is superrrr important to me!

LONG DISTANCE LOVING :: {AVs} blog is one of the first blogs that I started reading back in the day. It is still one of my regulars because of her great sense of style & design. When I got the opportunity to meet her at the DC Blogger meet up this past December it just sealed the deal on what an amazing person she really is. She is one blogger that I would to get to know even more!

A LITTLE DASH OF ASH :: Now Ashley is a person I longggg to meet one day! Her blog is so fun + def an inspiration to me. We seem to have quite a bit in common & I think that is what draws me in to reading her posts everyday! I even get bummed when she doesn't post! ha :]

4. What has surprised you most about blogging so far (good or bad): I have realized that some of my bestest friends are ones that I have never met in real like. These people LOVE me for me. & I honestly can't wait to meet them one day >>> *cough* stesha *cough* drew

5. Best advice you've received about blogging: "Blog for you & not for the numbers." -- This can be easier said then done because SO many people blog for the numbers. I have learned to blog for myself & that def shows through my posts + writing!

6. How do you come up with material for your blog? HAHAHA. I come up with the most random posts at the absolute random times! Like last week I was craving sherbert {down below}  so I went to the grocery store to buy some & wrote my post on the colors of sherbet. yeah i am weird. i know. But other times I get my inspiration from magazines, other blogs, & things that inspire me!

7. What do you do when you aren't blogging? Wellllll, I am a full-time graduate student at Eastern Virginia Medical School studying to be a Physicians Assistant. So when I am not blogging I am in class from 9 am to 3 pm & studying with all the other free-time I get. I am a year into school & I start my rotations this May!! YAY! I also spend a lot of my time up in DC with my boyfriend Nick & our puppy Rufus.

8. What is your goal for your blog a year from now? A year from now I hope to have a faithful following where my readers have connected with me on a deeper level then just commenting. & I hope to have a good growing business with { let it be beautiful designs }. Like I said before readers are what keep ME going -- it isn't about the numbers, but that can def be discouraging if you aren't gaining new readers.

9. Have you ever been on a blate (blogger + date)? If so, how did it go? If not, would you? Yes, I have had many oppurtunities to go on blates & I have had a blast on them! I went on a blate for lunch in DC with { Ashley } & I also met { Lindsey } + { Ashley } for the first time at brunch just a couple weeks ago. I am looking forward to going on more in  the future! & if you havn't had the chance to go on one, you def should! :]

Thank you Lindsey for this opportunity to tell other bloggers who I am -- I hope to get to know some of your amazing readers :]

Who is this baby?
Your Name:
Sarah Elizabeth and this is me...

I like to get dressed up and stand in the Atlantic Ocean.
Ok, fine. Let's be more realistic...

Your Blog Name:
90 Percent Blonde

Meaning behind your blog name:
I am naturally a dirty blonde. Unfortunately, I tend to fit into the dumb blonde category. I do have my smarter moments but there are times when I am ‘blonde’ the entire day. Sometime last year, Beau (as we like to call him) told me that I was 90% blonde and 10% brunette. The rest of the day, whenever I had a blonde moment, he would look over and go “Yup, 90% blonde!”

Get to know this Baby
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to document my life and share my stories. When I first started, I had been suffering with chronic lower back pain for 9 months. Blogging was my escape and the support I've gotten from other bloggers is heart-warming.

2. What do you hope to gain from blogging?
I hope that through my experiences I can help other people. If not by my back issues, at least turn around someone's day by making them laugh.

3. Name 3 established blogs you look up to and why.
Lindsey from The Bargain Blonde (obviously). Not only does this lovely lady have some good stories but it's one of a handful of blogs that I can read every single post and stay interested in it. I had been following her blog for a while and partially because of her, was inspired to create my own. And have you seen her nephew?!?

Jess from The Kentucky Priss. Can you say gorgeous! Being fake and hiding behind a blog is something that one could easily do. But by reading her blog, you can tell she is the real deal -- she even types the way she talks. Bonus? She loves monogrammed things!

Chelsea from Life is a Sunset. This girl knows how to write! She has gone through so much in the past year but is such a strong person and her strength shines through her blog. I've had the honor of email back and forth with her before and let me tell you, a girl would be lucky to have her as a friend!

4. What has surprised you most about blogging so far (good or bad):
Good -- The friendships made between bloggers. Who knew that you can be so close to someone you've never met!
Bad -- The mean comments people write then hide behind the name 'anonymous'. If you have something to say, speak up.

5. Best advice you've received about blogging:
Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't write. It's your blog and if people don't like what you have to say, they don't have to read it.

6. How do you come up with material for your blog?
Through my life... things I say or do. After all, who doesn't love stories from a blonde!

7. What do you do when you aren't blogging?
I love to spend time with my two dogs: Bow, a Border Collie mix rescued from Southern Virginia, and Sammy, a German Shepherd mix rescued from Georgia. I am a reality-TV and wine addict, especially Monday and Tuesday nights. Photography is a newer hobby of mine and I love to learn new techniques. Oh, and I'm planning my Beau's and my wedding!

8. What is your goal for your blog a year from now?
Honestly, I don't really have a goal for my blog except to keep blogging. Sometimes life can get busy and blogging goes on the back burner but I try to not let that happen. I've made it an important part of my life and I love it.

9. Have you ever been on a blate (blogger + date)?  If so, how did it go? If not, would you?
Not yet, however, Jess from Pretty Physicist and I have been trying to get together and we hopefully will be soon. Am I excited to meet her? You betcha!

Surprise! + Baby Bloggers - Part 1

I'm in Hawaii with Raven from A Momma's Desire's and Pacifiers!  We have kept this secret in for far too long and we're finally here!!!

Since I knew I'd be out of commission, I asked some newer bloggers (baby bloggers) to fill in for me while I'm in paradise all week.

Up first we have Shannon and Erin!

I'm excited to guest post for Miss Lindsey and introduce myself to you all! When I saw Lindsey was looking for some "baby bloggers" to help her out this week I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity. I love reading her blog and we have SO much in common....from our love of e.l.f. makeup to our disgusting reality TV habits...it was a match made in Blog Heaven!

So keep reading if you'd like to learn a little more about this blonde, blogging baby!

Who is this baby?

Your Name: Shannon Page

Your Blog Name: Page:Twenty-Two

Page: Twenty-Two

Meaning behind your blog name: My family's lucky number has always been 22. Although I'm not sure why we call it our "lucky" number since we've bet on it and never won anything...but it is! Page is my mother's maiden name and MY middle name....Voila...Page:Twenty-Two was born!

Blog Established: November 2011

Current follower count: 140 beautiful followers (maybe more by the time you are reading this? maybe not?)

Get to know this Baby

1. Why did you start blogging?
I used to spend my down time reading DIY, fashion and lifestyle blogs but never got involved in blogging myself. Yes, I was THAT creeper that read your blog, added you to my favorites, didn't "follow" you, didn't comment and didn't show my face. Guilty as charged.  This past October I got to thinking...could I write my own blog? Yes I think I can! I have the tech smahts (yes I'm from Boston...we rarely pronounce our "R's") to do this and I'm a whiz with HTML code....so why not:)

2. What do you hope to gain from blogging?
The thing I really hoped to gain most from blogging was building relationships. I have lots of friends from HS and college but always thought it would be cool to learn more and connect with people in other parts of the country and other parts of the world!

3. Name 3 established blogs you look up to and why.
I think we all know why I would look up to Lindsey from the Bargain Blonde but I'm gonna go ahead and tell you why anyway. She's gorgie, funny, talented, and she writes an awesome blog that has a lot of helpful/useful info! Two things I love in life ....being blonde and getting a good bargain. What more could I ask for in a blogging role model?

Another lady who I love to follow is Michelle from the Vintage Apple! She cracks me up and I love how real she is when she writes. Would you believe that I didn't become addicted to Pinterest UNTIL I started linking up with Michelle for her Wednesday link up?...I kid you not....she may be at fault for my pinning obsession!

Finally, I look up to Steph from Beautiful Mess. I started reading her blog last year when I began planning my wedding. She had a lot of great tips and I admire the relationship she has with her man. She even has his name in her blog title...If that isn't true love I don't know WHAT is!

All in all these ladies love blogging and they're great at it - inspires me to get to their level one day!

4. What has surprised you most about blogging so far (good or bad):
A good thing that has surprised me is the friendships and relationships that can be built through blogging. Also, the advice...you women have GREAT advice....and I take it!

5. Best advice you've received about blogging:
Don't think too much about it. Originally when I first started out I wondered, "who the heck is even going to care to read about my wacked life?" It turns out....about 140 people do! It doesn't matter what you write about...just write if it makes you happy:)

6. How do you come up with material for your blog?
As I've explained on my blog before, I'm no Paula Deen - so you won't find amazing recipes on my blog and I'm no Victoria Beckham - so you won't find much fashion advice on Page:Twenty-Two. I'm just....ME!  I write about my life and what interests me (which usually includes reality tv, my wedding, my red wine addiction, and beauty/hair tips)

7. What do you do when you aren't blogging?
When I'm not blogging I'm definitely probably drinking red wine, planning my June 2012 wedding, hanging out with my man, watching reality TV, spending time with my family and fantastic friends, and being a Boston sports fanatic!

8. What is your goal for your blog a year from now?
I'd LOVE to get a real groove going with my blog and maybe find some sort of niche. Maybe this blog will help me learn about what interests me most and what I'm good at. Oh and obviously I'd LOVE to triple my number of followers by next year....Is that possible? (will you help me? Please...tell your friends!)

9. Have you ever been on a blate (blogger + date)?  If so, how did it go? If not, would you?
I have never been on a blate before but I am ALL FOR IT! If any of you are ever on the east coast (MA/NH area)....it's a blate!:)

Get to know this Baby
1. Why did you start blogging? I started blogging after I read pretty much every blog post of the Blue Eyed Brides in like a 2 week period. Just reading about her planning her wedding, marriage, having babies really made me want to document everything that is happening with my life and the people in it.

2. What do you hope to gain from blogging? When I first started blogging I was just interested to see if someone else would want to read what I was rambling about. But now I just want to build more blog-friendships like I have over the past year.

3. Name 3 established blogs you look up to and why.
  • Blue Eyed Bride - she is the reason I started blogging. I love how she is very candid with her life and everything that is going on from having two boys to planning holidays around their home.
  • Confessions of a Twenty Something - Pink Lou Lou is hilarious and her obsession with Carrie Underwood is legit. I love her style and how girly she is!
  • PIPM: Pretty In Pink Megan - I lust after her style and designer bags! She is such a good inspiration for trying new makeup and fashion tends! You can even buy a few of her items on her blog sale!
4. What has surprised you most about blogging so far (good or bad) : Biggest surprise is that people read it at all and that people in different countries read my blog. It boggles my mind.

5. Best advice you've received about blogging: Just be yourself and your readers will be able to see that through your blog.

6. How do you come up with material for your blog? Just my daily life of ridiculousness...seriously some of the stuff that happens to me I can not even make up!

7. What do you do when you aren't blogging? Hanging out with my husband and our two fur babies. We are tv people, so I am normally glued to the tv watching some type of reality trash.

8. What is your goal for your blog a year from now? I would like to double my follower count as well as get a sponsor.

9. Have you ever been on a blate (blogger + date)?  If so, how did it go? If not, would you? I have not been on a "blate" yet! I would absolutely meet up with one of my blogger friends!

5 Spring Shade Faves

Essie is by far my favorite nail polish brand and with the official "First Day of Spring" only five days away, I thought I'd pick out 5 spring shade faves.  So clever, I know.

The Spring nail polish color trends I'm swooning over are coral, lilac, mint, peach and pastel pink and these five essie colors need to get on my nails immediately.

What about you?  What colors are you painting your nails this Spring?

Gas station pick-up lines

A little something light today for your hump day.

I don't know what it is but apparently the gas station is the place where skeezebags have decided to holler at me this week.

During my lunch break on Monday I stopped by the gas station to fill up my tank.  When I went inside to pay, a man with a fully gold grill yells out to me, "Hey girl, how you doing?"  I don't make eye contact, I say "hello" and I move along inside to pay.

When I come outside he is just perched up against his work truck and asks, "Hey, do you need me to take you to lunch?"

Me:*Awkward laugh*  "No thank you."

Skeezebag #1: "Why not? Come on."

Um, I'll tell you why not.  You're probably 50+ years old and have a mouth full of gold.  Do you honestly think I would go to lunch with you, a stranger, who is loitering at a gas station?  But instead of saying what I was actually thinking I .... *Awkward chuckle again*

Skeezebag #1: "Well, do you need help pumping your gas?"

Me: "No."  And I locked myself in my car until he got the hint to drive off.

So that happened Monday.

Well Tuesday I go to another gas station down the street to pick up wine a few things and this transpires:

I feel this dudes eyes on me as I make my way around the store and I once again make no eye contact when he's standing by the register as I go check out (even though he had already paid).

Skeezebag #2: "I hope whoever you're going home to treats you good. If not, I'm telling my mamma and then Obama."

Ummm what? Sir, that doesn't even make sense. Cue me awkward laugh AGAIN.

Then he puts his hand out to introduce himself. WTF? I don't want to a) touch your hand and b) I definitely don't care what your name is.

So next he puts his hand up to his ear pretending to make a phone call to his mom telling her all about the blonde girl standing there in a black dress. Yes, this was happening.

I give him an awkward chuckle and keep my back to him as I'm paying hoping he gets the eff out.  He sees I'm ignoring him so he tells me, "I'm going to make like a tree and roll."

Actually Einstein, the saying is "make like a tree and leaf" and you can do just that. Sick.

I mean, what girl would find this type of behavior endearing, charming, appropriate, etc.? Does this ever actually work for them?  These are questions I need answers to. Y'all get back to me because I'm off to Happy Hour. Holla.
