Your sink is dirtier than your toilet. Yummy.

VOM.  A long time ago I watched an Oprah Show (RIP) about where germs breed in your house and how to eliminate them.  It was highly disturbing to say the least.  While I do joke about living in a crack den (which, half the time is true), I truthfully can't stand a filthy house.

Some of the advice from the show I adapted to my everyday life, but I forgot about a lot of it so I researched the tips.  I figured I'd share with you bargainistas.  Could your house be making you sick?

To get my kitchen sink clean (which is dirtier than your toilet), I like to use Comet.  I'm guilty of not disinfecting my sink nearly enough, but when I do, Comet is the bomb.

It disinfects while it cleans and all you have to do is sprinkle a little onto a wet sink or tub, let it sit for a few seconds then scrub and rinse.  You can buy this at the $1 store.

Dishrags and sponges: Clean them in a washing machine with bleach. No one should use a sponge for more than a month.  Actual sponges sick me the hell out.  However, I do love a dish wand sponge to clean dishes before putting in the dishwasher.

My fave are the O-Cel-O brand because they have a non-stick version and they come in cute patterns.  I've bought mine at Wal-Mart in the past.

Trashcans should be sprayed with a disinfectant every time you empty it, and if you see any liquid, you should thoroughly wash it.

Trash cans are so gross obviously.  I didn't start doing using disinfectant spray on them until I saw this Oprah show,  and now I have to every time I change the bag. I like Lysol disinfectant spray, which comes in different scents.

Air-dry everything. Dryness kills germs and prevents them from growing.  I do this anyway especially to save money on my electric bill.  Every time I wash my dishes, I stop the drying cycle, pull out the racks and let my dishes air dry over night.

Dust mites: Vacuum your carpeting and drapery at a very high setting and wash your sheets on the hottest temperature setting.  Cold and warm water won't kill mites. I will DIE if I ever get dust mites. Literally die.

Pillows functionally last 3 to 5 years. Just thinking of dust mites living in your pillow by the millions, eating your dead skin and hair should be enough to make you go get new pillows if your pillows are old.

I bought some awesome feather pillows from Ikea on the cheap about a year ago. I love them!  They have so many to choose from depending on what kind of a sleeper you are.

$14.99 Ikea - [BUY]

Stuffed animals: Vacuum weekly and/or throw them in the dryer at a high setting to kill germs.  I need to do this to all of my nephew's stuffed animals. I won't be vacuuming them, but hot dryer I can manage.
My neph & Elmo back when he was a wittle bebe.

"They" say disposable razors are only good for three uses. They become dull, knick your skin, and the old skin cells become a breeding ground for infection.  Razors are too expensive for me to throw out after only 3 uses, but once I feel like they are getting dull, I will toss them.

Are you thoroughly disgusted yet? Do you plan on kicking any dust mites out of bed now? Because I don't know about you, but I feel like I need a bath of bleach.

Read more here if you are so inclined.

Forget Bachelor Pad, let's talk my new pad

Come October 1, this lovey will be all mine and I'm so excited. Just in time for the holidays!
Buh bye 8 years of apartment livin', hello the TOWN HOME life!  I didn't buy this place, which works out better for me actually.  If you can imagine, I'm not much of a "handy woman" and I certainly don't take kindly to mowing lawns or landscaping.  Do you blame me?  I prefer spending my time giving myself mud masks and blowing my life savings at the dollar store.

Luckily the HOA takes care of all that anyway and if anything like the garbage disposal goes out, I just call my sweet land lady Poppy and she will send someone right away.

Since I officially put my deposit down last week, I cannot stop perusing Pinterest for decor ideas for the new place.  I'm actually moving in with my brother (say a prayer for me please), which means I will have to consult with him in regard to decor in the common areas. Well, we'll see about that.

However, I'm already planning a room make-over, especially because I'll have a bigger room now.  Here is a picture of the model of what will be the Bargain Blonde's new lair. I kinda die.

See where that fake tree, dresser and chair is? I want to make that a vanity area.  I get giddy just thinking about it.  How gorgeous would something like one of these set-ups be?  Imagine all the magical e.l.f. application that could go on there ...

Now I need your opinion. What would you do with that extra space in your room?

And more importantly, where does a girl find affordable furniture other than Ikea?  I love Ikea, but the dressers I got from there are falling apart after 2 moves under their belt.

Just a little sneak peak into the new pad. You better believe there are going to be more townhome decor posts where this came from. I can't wait to show y'all the entire place.  Momma's moving!

Start each day like it's your birthday!

1 / 2 / 3 / 4
Love that quote.  And how gorgeous is that tablescape and those cakes?  To die.

By the time y'all are reading this I'll probably be on my way to the airport to pick up Beth.  While I'm out galavanting around Dallas with her hoping she doesn't slice me, why don't y'all take a trip down memory lane?

I had my Mom dig up some old birthday pics of her little Lindsey Lee.  You'll see a few years of the infamous mullet and I'm still not happy with her about that.  She claims it was the style, but I beg to differ. I can promise you my child will NEVER have a mullet.

Thanks for all the early birthday wishes yesterday, Happy Birthday to me!

From what I'm told, this was what I called my "Madonna" dress and I was obsessed with it. Pretty sure Madonna never had a mullet.

Me & bro bear at my 5th birthday.  Still rockin' the mullet. Is my nephew not his twin?

Look at that trick trying to steal my spotlight and me mid-push trying to get her out of the way.

Yikes, thank goodness for self tanner.  The awkward middle school years. In case you're wondering, yes that's a jean skort.

Nothing sexy about this.  That much I know.

The last post I'll type at age 26

I couldn't think of a better title because today's post is full of randomness.  Enjoy ...

First of all, I need you to head on over to my girl Zara's blog at Eat, Shop and be Married because I'm guest blogging for her today.  I picked out affordable eye shadow colors to enhance blue, brown, green and grey eye colors!  So take your eyes on over there to read.

Next, let's discuss my birthday outfit.  I got a black sequin dress yesterday that I plan on wearing with my Shoedazzle hot pink heels.  I wanted something fun.  Do y'all approve of my ensemble?

The "mother of the bargain blonde" as she likes to call herself (my Mom) wanted me to tell y'all that Home Goods currently has all their fall scented Yankee candles on sale for $7.99.  Regularly priced $19.99.  Go scoop some up.  Say thanks bargain blonde mom!

Also, tomorrow not only do I celebrate making it to one more year of life, but Sweet Bef will be touching down in Dallas.  My first face-to-face meeting with a blog friend.  Let's hope she doesn't slice me in my sleep.  Juuuuust kidding.  But if I'm not back here on Monday, you'll know who to point Dateline to.

We're filming a joint vlog before we head out to my birthday dinner, and we are still accepting questions.  Be sure to ask us questions you want us to answer before tomorrow by clicking here!  We are loving what you have asked us already!

P.S. One final reminder. Don't forget my "giveaway for a good cause" ends tomorrow at midnight.  Be sure to enter ASAP so you don't miss out on an opportunity to win a free necklace and shirt!

That is all!  Was this post random enough for you?
