By the way, the comments y'all left on my look back on 2011 post were beyond overwhelming. Your kind and gracious words touched my heart and I can't tell you enough how much they mean to me. I have not had a chance to respond to each one individually yet, but I assure you they did not go unnoticed and very much appreciated. XOXO

Now these aren't your traditional resolutions like "lose 20 pounds" because let's face it, that's my goal like every day of my life. These are really just things I always say I'm going to do but for whatever reason, I have yet to check them off my life to-do list. Here. we. go.
One. Buy a pair of cowboy boots. It's an outright shame that I am a born and bred Texan, but have never owned a pair of cowboy boots. Wait. I take that back. I think I had a pair when I was younger, but I'm now 27 and I find it unconstitutional that as a Southerner I don't have a pair taking up residence in my closet.
via |
As a single girl who is home alone frequently, I want to have this to protect myself should some skeezebag try to assault me. You may find me on a episode of Snapped one day and you can tell them all about the time I blogged about wanting to buy a gun.
three. Drink more water (with lemon) and cut back on Diet Cokes. There, I said it. I really don't like the idea of less diet cokes, but artificial sweetener is just so bad for you. #firstworldproblems
via |
five. Read a book once a month. I'm currently reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Up next is The Hunger Games. If any of you have any book recs, I am all yours.
six. Save money. Suze and I are going to get real tight:
seven. Take a photography class. I had to take one in college as a journalism major but our professor was one of those that needed to retire like yesterday. During any test we'd convince him it needed to be open book and he'd go right along with our antics. I need to actually learn a trick or two.
via |
via |
via |
ten. Watch less E! news and more "real news". Ahhh, the silver fox:
via |
Note: this is NOT my actual vehicle. Mine just looks like a second closet. via |
lol irl to my pic on the right. I'm trying to seduce y'all. Is it working? |
Good luck with your goals! One of mine is cutting back on the pop, and I am a huge fan of Suze Orman too!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your goals. I have the answer to one of them...read my blog ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL you are hilarious. Adore that sense of humor of yours. I hope you and Raven get to meet too! The plato quote has always been one of my favorites too. so intellectual you are ;) have a good wknd!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all your resolutions. I need to also drink more water and less diet coke. But I HAVE to have lemon in water. Its a must. I want cowboy boots too. I just don't want people to think I am "posing" even tho I kinda am...lets face it, I'm not a real cowboy/girl.
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK! Thanks for the blog love over at my place
I love your resolutions. Especially the smile one : )
ReplyDeleteHunger Games = Amaze! I read the first book of the Dragon Tattoo series = Decent. Currently reading the Eragon series = Way better than expected (if you like fantasy type books). Read the Harry Potter and Twilight books if you haven't. I promise you'll like them! And also anything by Lisa Jackson, Linda Howard, or Janet Evanovich :)
ReplyDeleteLove ALL your goals!! I SO wish in Canadialand we were allowed to carry handguns, but sadly, we are not. If you do get your CHL, make sure to post some pictures or blog about going to a range!
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for book suggestions, read anything by Jen Lancaster! I suggest starting with "Bitter is the new Black". She's hilarious and I think you'd dig her writing style!
Oh, oh, pick me, pick me! I can be one of the five new blogs you read this week....:)
ReplyDeleteYES!!! You must get cowboy bootsssss... and may I make a suggestion. Old West ones are great and alot less expensive than most. I have three pair ha! Camel, black with camel on the leg part and the snazzy red ones that Kendol got me for Christmas. They are "real" cowboy boots but are not big, bulky and manly looking. And only 110 bones.
ReplyDeleteAll great goals!! I've read the Hunger Games books and now I need to start on the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - it's sitting in the backseat of my car just waiting for me to pick it up!
ReplyDeleteYou have great resolutions! Totally realistic and not typical which I like. I definitely want to start drinking more water and was actually just talking today about lemon water. I went on a huge lemon water kick a couple years ago and LOVED it! Mmmm.
ReplyDeleteSuze. Such a smart woman. I think we could all learn a TON from her! Love all of these! :)
OMG girl ok we can not be friends anymore til you get a pair of cowboy boots. GEEZE girly hahahaha you know I am picking with you. I swear boots are so comfotable I wear them like everyday. But then again dont take advice from me at all lol Good luck on your 12 goals:)
ReplyDeleteI have some really good books recommendations: first and foremost is Divergent (if you like Hunger Games, you will probably like this book). It is a super fast and easy read and downright good :)
ReplyDeleteI also need to get on the drinking more water and less diet coke bandwagon. Like, now (I say as I have a diet coke next to me...whooooops!)
You're gonna rock 2012! :)
Good luck with your goals! I like your goal about the gun. You gotta protect yourself. :) If you like young adult fiction, I really like the Pretty Little Liars series, Private and Privilege (2 different series, but they're sort of related), and the Lying Games books. I'm a big fan of the young adult fiction because it doesn't make me think too much. I also just finished the new Stephen King - 11/22/63 - which I also loved. And for blogs ... how about mine? ;)
ReplyDeleteGirl... as a southerner, shame on you for no cowboy boots! :) Hopefully that resolution is fixed first! Ha! Love the rest of them! Happy 2012!
ReplyDeleteyes! get a gun!!
ReplyDeleteand you can read my new blog...
http://www.petalslaceandpearls.com/
=) happy friday!!
1. the 2nd paragraph makes you sound so adult like.
ReplyDelete2. you read? had no idea.
3. you look hot in your "necklace" pictures
4. but the shade has been thrown. BIG time.
and ya, drink more water!!! it will flush out all the bad stuff, make you feel better, and make your skin even more fabulous!!=)
ReplyDeleteI want to get my CHL too! But I don't want to take the class alone. We should meet in the middle (I live if Fort Worth) and take the class together!
ReplyDeleteAnd The Hunger Games is amazing! I'm in the middle of the 2nd book now. :)
I'm trying to drink more water too! I bought a big purple Bubba keg to keep on my desk at work and I already haven't refilled it in 3 days. It's so hard being a camel.
ReplyDeleteO.M.Geee. You don't have cowboy boots?! DIS.grace.FUL. get some immediately! Vintage Corrals are real purdy but not as comfy as Ariats ... that's my two cents. I love all of mine. I got a Nikon for Christmas and I'm bout to hit up the free classes that Wolf offers b/c we bought the camera from them. Holla! Let us know what you learn. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou have great resolutions. I too, am addicted to some diet cokes, but this week I said NO MORE! I am drinking water with lemon in it, and sparkling water does help with the whole (carbonation addiction).
ReplyDeleteI love that you are reading more, and hey you can always stop by and read my blog!
Have a great weekend
GURL???? Seriously? NO BOOTS? whoozers. A co-worker of mine got a pink gun for Christmas last year. It's so cute? Are you supposed to use cute and gun in the same sentence?
ReplyDeleteLinds, are you honestly telling me you spent years in Lubbock without ever having boots?! I wore boots to most football games!
ReplyDeleteIf you want a new blog you can wander over to mine, I finally took the plunge & started a blog!
Read Bitter is the New Black by Jennifer Lancaster (a fellow blogger turned author.) You won't be disappointed!
ReplyDeletehahah you are a hoot! i think i giggled just a little in each goal, even tho they were all great goals! you just always seem to know how to add the right amount of spunk :]
ReplyDelete& i vow to read a book a month too & drink more water with lemon & read five new blogs a week. twinsies? yes i think so! :]
xoxo.
love this idea..might have to do a post like this! I got my concealed carry license a while back and surprise surprise my gun is pink ha. I really want to take a photography class too..I have a D60 and honestly have no clue how to use it to its full ability.
ReplyDeleteThese are all great goals!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower! You and Raven are toooo cute! Good luck on all of your goals, missy!!
ReplyDeleteSam
This was so fun to read and makes me wanna come up with my own 12 resolutions! However, I think they'd be the exact same as yours, pretty much. Here are some suggestions from me:
ReplyDelete1. Goodreads helps you with the reading goal. All kinds of suggestions, reviews, and they even have a 2012 Reading Challenge where you can set a goal of how many books you wanna read. I hopped all over it!
2. Books: I just finished Little Bee by Chris Cleave and it was devastating and beautiful. Hunger Games is hard to put down, so I think you'll like that. I'm currently reading a memoir by Piper Kerman called "Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison," which is this awesome story of a middle class, educated white woman who ends up in federal prison. I couldn't recommend "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole any stronger . . . funniest book I've ever read, hands down.
3. I love all the blogs on my sidebar. They're f'in awesome.
Happy 2012!!
You are going to love Hunger Games!! BEST BOOKS EVER!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! cowboy boots, i just added a pair to my wish list, without realizing their 500 bucks...whoa, husband had big laugh at me!!
ReplyDeleteGreat resolutions! I really want to take a camera class too. I bought a fancy pants camera like 2 years ago and still don't know how to use the damn thing. =)
ReplyDeleteAlicia @ tocolumbusandbeyond.blogspot.com
BEST BITCHES! LOVE LOVE it. <3 I think we must be sharing a brain, i started drinking water with lemon too.
ReplyDeletePlease get a pink gun and some cowboy boots. For real. :)
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you do not own at least one pair of cowboy boots! I sure hope that you don't buy a pair like in the picture! Bc 1} they look like man boots and 2} they have pool noodles in them...wth lol
ReplyDeleteThe pink gun is awesome. I saw one that shoots out pepper spray too. Obviously not as hardcore as a gun but I definitely want it.
ReplyDeleteMy car turns into Hoarder's every few months. Actually you can't open my trunk because it's the place where I put all the clothes I no longer want.. but then never get rid of them.. it's bad back there. Oh and yay for being your 1,000th follower!
great goals!!!
ReplyDeleteYou just hit a 1,000 followers!!! Congrats!! love ya girlfraaaand
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! Good luck accomplishing everything and Happy New Year!!
ReplyDelete{www.Perfectlyunplanned.com}
wow we have lots of the same goals.
ReplyDeletefirst of all..yes get a gun! i have a .38 smith&wesson..it's small and easy to use. i, too, am a single girl living by herself so i needed something for safety i wanna get my CHL cause i go show/clean so many rent houses, that are yep, in the hood/projects/ghetto i think i would fit right in with my gun hidden in my jeans.
i vowed to drink more water last year and i actually got into the habit of it..plus it's cheap.
hoping to save my money and read one book a month..now lets see if i follow through with these two...
I loveeee cowboy boots! I have one pair but I definitely want to get another!

I will totally help you out and let you read my blog! I was a blog virgin as of two weeks ago and I'm loving it!! I think I should just print out your 12 bc I need to do most of those things too!!
ReplyDeleteHELLO pink gun! That is a MUST HAVE & a MUST post when you get it!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you meet your Best Bitch, Raven! You both seem quite the catch!
Goal one: I highly suggest Dan Post. I have a pair (in men's because I wear a 10-11 in women's and not many boot companies go that high), seriously my boots are as comfortable as my tennis shoes. LOVE
ReplyDeleteGoal two: I carry a 38 special, Taurus. Not expensive, I want to say it was less than $500. Small, light, it's really easy to conceal. I carry it in my purse most days, when I need to, it slips right in my waistband (with my soft holster) very well. I love my little revolver, it's SO much easier to shoot than my husband's 45.
and, you can always read my blog, lol
asquared1228.blogspot.com
i feel ya on number four. I definitely need to dust at LEAST once a week. it gets pretty bad on my nightstand. bleh. :]
ReplyDeleteAs I write this, you have 1,001!! eeeee!! so amazing im so excited for you! blogging is seriously awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo....when I went to texas to visit Shay and Sabrina, i wandered into a cowboy boot store because i was DETERMINED to get a pair and click my heels through the streets of Boston. However I saw a pair I wanted...500$!!! those are no bargainista! But I feel like one day ill just have to splurge
i think in order to get any cleaning done, a sexy outfit like that MUST be worn ;-) Victoria secret has all their costumes on sale for like 15$ so go get one! and a lil feather duster. You can be like Jo from Real Housewives of OC circa season 1!
i love the smile resolution :-) thats my FAV! So this one blog I read literally she makes me want to do all the sweet cute smiley stuff she does. Check it OUTTT! Its called Color Me Katie. She once bought a smiley face hole puncher and punched a zillion colorful papers of smileys and threw them everywhere!
in love with the necklace you and raven have!! so amazing! :-) blog friendships are the freakin greatest!
love you! happy 1,000!!
holy smokes with all the comments. i have like dial up internet (ok not that bad but it might as well be) and it took like 20 seconds to load this page from them all. sheeeesh girllll.
ReplyDelete1) im making a list. because that is what i do.
2) please help me with photography. pleassseee. you should take the class and share tips so i learn but dont have to pay.
3) i think in 2012 you should write some real articles for mags and stuff. youve got the creds and people that would LOVE to read it from those levels too. just a personal opinion :)
4) who are you kidding...youre not giving up e! for cnn. sounds like a good idea now though doesnt it?
5) I LOVEEEE the smile and compliment strangers thing. i make it a point to do it here in norway because people like dont speak to each other if they are strangers. i think i catch people off guard and i LOVE it.
6) i cant find hunger games in english here and i am DYING to find out if it is good. my lil sis is sending it to me, but we all know that wont end up really happening.
7) my new years resolution was to not drink soda. diet coke here sucks, so it make the process easier to be honest :)
that is it. only 7 items today. and no capital letters or apostrophes. i know you love it.
have a great weekend love!
Love this post. Awesomeness. ok 1. You are hot. Seriously. 2. Love your necklace and that you and Raven are best biches. :) So fun. 3. Congrats on 1000+!!
ReplyDeleteOkay I just love reading all your fun posts!! I am a Lindsey too and a Red Raider!! You need to look at Allen's Boots in Austin they have a fabulous selection of boots, I am talking like a million! Also you HAVE to read the Hunger Games but block out a weekend because once you start you will not be able to stop! Also keep the 2nd and 3rd book ready because once you finish the 1st book you will HAVE to start the 2nd! Happy boot shopping and reading!!!
ReplyDeleteWRECK 'EM
your 12 for 2012 is so so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely want to smile more. and stress less. i need to take more deep breaths in 2012. lol
great list. obviously, 2012 is your year ;)
ReplyDeletelove the "watch less E! news and more real news".. haha!!
i need to clean... I think I'm going to try the "clean for 15 mins a day when you get home from work" rule... i saw it on pinterest. apparently, your house will be spotless.... ha.
Wow! We've got similar goals: taking a photography class, check! Getting my CHL, check! Drinking fewer diet Cokes, check!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Those are fabulous rezzies. :)
ReplyDeleteI especially like #1 and #2...
PS - how do you not own boots???
ReplyDeleteI wear mine all of the time these days .... so darn cute.
super cute post girl and great resolutions! I need to make a post like this too, its on my to do list! haha.
ReplyDeleteCant wait for you two to meet! IT WILL BE EPIC I AM SURE
best resolutions ever! i love this idea! i might steal a few of those :D
ReplyDeleteLOVE Anderson Cooper! I probably also need to watch more real news and read less people.com. Best of luck with your resolutions! If you're looking for a new blog to peruse, hop on over to mine :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to know that I am not the only one obsessed with their birth date number. 2011 was awesome for me, as I am sure 2012 will be for you. Reading your list, it seems like I wrote some of the things. Deff agree with with less soda, more "smart" books, cleaning, saving money, less E! Unless the Kardashians are on...& photography, deff take a class if you have time, its so worth it, trust.
ReplyDeleteLove the necklace from Raven, too cute. BFF necklace, awe childhood.
& I don't read smart books, so I can suggest the Gossip Girl series, oh & Dollhouse from (ghost writer) the Kardashians.
xo Sarmin
I love these! I want to get my CHL too, but I'd be that girl who would shoot her own foot off. That wouldn't be pretty!
ReplyDeleteI suggest following my blog, HA!
I happen to think your goals are pretty awesome. ;-) You should check out Dave Ramsey - he has some great financial advice and tools!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the boots!
ReplyDeleteAs for books, a few of my faves are:
The Help, JA Konrath's Jack Daniels series (very creepy but very good), Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (hilarious...don't let the horrid Katherine Heigl movie previews turn you away!), and Victoria Laurie's Ghouls series (creepy and hilarious, a perfect combo).
As for blogs, mine! http://made-by-lori.blogspot.com
you have some great goals! good luck to getting it all done in 2012!
ReplyDeleteand your seducing picture is totally working! ;) love the necklace!
Thats funny because I was thinking the same thing about cowboy boots the other day! So now I'm doing some browsing until I can find the perfect ones!
ReplyDeletebeautymarked71.blogspot.com
You will LOVE Hunger Games!!! SO GOOD!
ReplyDeleteI probably should add keeping my car clean to my list of goals this year too. It's ridiculous (all the time). Suze's "Young Fabulous and Broke" book is excellent, covers many topics, and best of all is easy to understand. Highly recommend! :)
ReplyDeleteLINDS! NO BOOTS???!! Get outta TOWN!!! I think Beau and I own about 20 pair combined...girlfrand...I need to come to Dallas and take you to buy boots. STAT.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pink handgun. I think this is one of Beau's dreams for me...I, however, am a little terrified of guns but this little pinky isn't AS intimidating.
I cut out Diet Cokes and ALL other soft drinks about 6 years ago. Random NY resolution that I actually stuck to and have never looked back. I'll steal a sip of someone's every once in a while and MANNNN is it good but only for the time being. I don't think I could ever drink a full Diet Coke ever again. This is a good goal, friend. :)
LOVE the Plato quote. So true but SO hard to remember during times like these.
9. You can read mine 5 times per day. ;)
Wait. 12? I thought y'all were for sure meeting?? Did I totally read that wrong?
I'm afraid of guns but I might get over that if I could get a pink one. Love it!! I'm trying to drink more water too. It's a chore sometimes but necessary. I used to read so much more...but it just seems like one more thing that has fallen by the wayside of a busy full time working adult. BOO!! Good luck on your goals.
ReplyDeleteYou need to give me the DL on Girl with The Dragon Tattoo...seriously i got to page 70- and no idea what the F was going on so I gave up nad now going to see the movie..sometime in the near future. I love your 12! they are fantastic and especially finding 5 new blogs! I need to get better at blogging. period. I am so glad I have met you in 2011! now 2012 to see what new things happen!
ReplyDeleteI def need to drink more water also! And do more reading...and cleaning lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to stalk your NOLA posts :) Just booked my trip this weekend!!
these are awesome resolutions - so different!
ReplyDeleteso excited for you and ravey-pants
AND girl...i SO need to watch less E! News and more real news....it's just not as much fun - or nearly as sexy. maybe the real news should try putting ryan reynolds on more...or like, at all!
cucumber water is great as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the gun thing. my husband and I live in a generally safe neighborhood AND we have dogs but in the past year and a half or so some things have happened that have really made me want a gun.
as for the cowboy boots...fashion cowboy boots or REAL cowboy boots? I'm an Ariat girl myself :)
new blogs...Mine! haha.
Tara @ http://ageeksaga.blogspot.com
I love every single one of these. I could have said them all myself. and you are beyond gorg with that stunning "necklace" on your neck.
ReplyDeletebest bitches FO LIFE!
I love your resolutions! I don't really ever make them... maybe because I never follow through so I just pretend they were never official. Haha But this year I have made it my resolution to be more positive - especially in the workplace, i.e. stop dreading going to work and just show up and do my job with a smile on my face! :)
ReplyDeleteI was a Diet Coke addict too.. I had atleast one if not more per day. A month ago I decided to be kinder to my body and stop drinking it.. and I've actually stuck to it suprisingly!! you can do it girl! Sparkling water is the bomb if you need the carbonation (with lemon. duh.)
ReplyDeleteI got a new camera, and it's like a foreign country! I just talked to a photographer about shadowing him, so hopefully I will pick up some great tricks.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't read "Water For Elephants", you should! Such a good read!
Good luck with your goals this year. I love reading people's resolutions because I come across things I never thought of (i.e. less E! and more news!). If you want to check out my blog as one of your new ones, my link is below. I'm glad I came across yours today!
