Help lotion me up

Not literally.  I don't like strangers touching me.  But I would like you to help me decide what to buy to lotion myself up with.  If you're thinking "Gross, why don't you use lotion?",  I'm going to get that.  Hold your side-eye for a sec.

First of all, I have 3 favorite hand creams, but these won't do for ALL OVER body lotion. I love these and use at least one of them once a day for my hands only:

BUY #1 / BUY #2 / BUY #3

I would just use the body lotion version of these scents, but I can't afford to use B&BW or VS lotion for all-over lotion.  I'd go broke.

Also keep in mind I have a large and in charge body with lots of acreage needing lotion.  One little 14 dollar bottle isn't gonna cut it.  I need to find value sized lotion to use for every day from a drug store (CVS, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.).

This is where you come in ...

There are aisles and many shelves of lotion at drug stores.  I've tried a few in the past, but was never blown away by anything.   In high school I swore by St. Ives Whipped Silk Lotion, but they stopped making it! Boo.

For the longest I've just been using Oil of Olay Creme Ribbons Body Wash, which is very moisturizing so I haven't needed lotion too.  Buttttt, it's hotter than Haiti in Texas and my skin is drying out. The last thing I need is reptile skin too.

I knew y'all would be the ladies to turn to, not Google.  What do you use to keep your skin smooth?  I need to be able to buy the lotion at a Drug Store and prefer it is less than $10 bones.

What body lotions should I add to my basket and why? HELP.

  1. I have a couple drugstore lotions that I like....I like Vaseline Cocoa Butter Extra Care Cream because I feel like it evens out my skin tone and gives me a nice little glow. I also like Oil of Olay Quench lotion.

PS.... Bath and Body Works sometimes has a Buy 3 Get 3 Free sale and usually sends out $10 off coupons that you can use in conjunction so I am able to snag 6 lotions for $20 and then I am stocked up for awhile.

  2. Great post, I was actually thinking about writing about this too and I've tried SO many drug store lotions. I have to say if you're going for really smooth skin, body butters go on thick but they work. It's kinda expensive to use that every day so I vote for cocoa butter, walmart or generic brands work pretty well too. I think it's a good one for your body every time you're out of the shower. And then use your fancy stuff on your face, neck and hands :) Hope it helps

  4. so listen up girlie, let me tell you what works like a charm for me. The cheapest shit on the shelf. They're all the same, right?

ok then, if you don't like that answer, how about the cocoa butter cream? I used that shit all the time while I was preg, never got a stretch mark or nothing.

And give me a break. I don't want to hear any more about your large and in charge body areas. STOP. IT. You have a body most girls would die for.

  5. I love the vaseline one with aloe. It's in a green bottle and pretty inexpensive at tar-jay.

  6. I love vaseline cocoa butter too. The bottle lasts a long time and your skin feels silky smooth.

  7. I love love love the Target brand moisturizing lotion. It's Up & Up aloe fresh - it's an enormous bottle (with a pump!) and it's only like $4. Seriously lasts me for months. And smells sooooo good. And I use it every day, all over my entire body. Go get it. Now.

    :)

  8. I swear by Nivea Smooth Sensation. It's about 7 bucks for a bottle that will last a month, but you can also usually find coupons for Nivea products. <3 This stuff, will make your legs feel soft as silk, promise. :)

  11. I like the Vaseline brand and also Aveno. The odd time, I'll get a nice one from Bath and Body works or something, but I have to make it last forever!

  12. I've used (generic) Cetaphil lotion for as long as I can remember. Nothing pretty or smelly, just regular ole' lotion. I even use it for my face.
Target and Wal Mart both have generic versions for pretty cheap and they work just the same. I've never had any 'dry' issues and have had several comments over the years about how soft my skin is. :) Worth a shot!! Good Luck!

  13. Ok, so i am an EXPERT at lotions! (not for the reason you are thinking LOL) I have extremely dry, and sensitive skin. Hands down the best lotion out there is Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion! And for the times that you need a little shine without the grease, add a few drops of baby oil to the lotion.... Trust me!

  14. I have been using the Banana Boat After Sun Lotion and so far I like it :) But after reading some of these others, I wanna try them too!

  15. I'm loving the St Ives oatmeal lotion right now. I have super dry skin on my hands (due to excessive hand washing :/ ) and that seems to help.

  16. Personally, for as long as I can remember (at least since high school) I've used plain old orange Dial bar soap to wash in the shower and Victoria's Secret lotions for my body and I ALWAYS get comments about how soft my skin is...not something I notice but as numerous people have mentioned it to me lately I guess it's the truth, haha.

  17. My faves from Target are Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion and Vaseline Cocoa Butter! They're both really good but the cocoa butter one smells better.

  18. I use this stuff I got at Big Lots (love that place) but I think it came from a drug store - its Quench and I think it's made by Olay (clearly I'm no help) but the bottle is purple. : )

  19. A LOOOONNNNGGG time ago I bought a monstrous bottle of Cocoa Butter lotion from Wal-Mart. I mean-huge. I remember it being really cheap and I think I still have it to this day. I'm not in love with the smell but it lasts forever and is moisturizing. Also-Bodycology usually smells pretty good. I know they sell it at Wal-Mart and Ulta (if you have an Ulta by you)-not to mention, they have 20% off this week for rewards members so you can save more...holla!

  20. LOVE the new design. And I saw that someone else mentioned it, but I love using baby lotion. Johnson & Johnson to be exact. It always leaves my skin feeling soft and you can get it in a huge bottle for pretty cheap!

  21. I agree with the cocoa butter - that is the most moisturizing lotion I have ever tried. I also have been really impressed with most of the jergens body lotions!

  22. I personally like to use a combo of baby oil and vaseline brand lotion. I love it!

  23. I swear by pure, virgin coconut oil. You can get it at Whole Foods in the states or any other organic grocery store. Maybe even Safeway. It is The BEST moisturizer I have found. I put it on my face and body. It feels really really oily when you put it on but once it sinks into your skin it's golden. And it's $10.00 for a huge jar. I bought mine in January and I still have half a jar left.

  24. I love the Olay Quench. I've used the regular one and the firming one and both are fab. In the summer I use a gradual daily tanning lotion but in the Fall/Winter Olay Quench is wonderful for my life. And, I think it smells pretty great too. If you haven't tried it, you should. I think you will like!

  25. Large and in charge my ass - you're perfect!

I am weirdo, I don't really like lotion because I can't stand the feeling of it on my hands. When I do use it I have to immediately wash my hands off lol.

BUT I use B&BW. They always have those crazy sales. If you aren't on their mailing list you should sign up. It's annoying how many sales they have. Some with free shipping, too :)

  26. I am IN LOVE with the Japanese Cherry Blossum at BBW, but I too can't afford to slather that on me all the time.

I use Keri lotion, with the shea butter. Girl you come out feeling good and it actually has some shine to it so it makes your legs look firmer (when in reality mine obviously arent.) :)

  27. I swear by Quench body lotion by Olay. I'm not a big lotion person during the summer, but in the harsh winters here in MN my skin gets super dry and this is the only thing that does the job. Plus it has a wee bit of shimmer!

  28. You know what I do? I mix some 'spensive lotion with some Petro Jelly and slather it. Just a little goes a long way and you smell delish.

    ReplyDelete
  29. And baby lotion. Yup. I steal it from Eva. (Well, with her excema, we buy the 'spensive sh!t for her and can't afford good stuff for me.) And if you use baby oil ... in the shower. It sounds strange, but it's amazing.

  30. hahaha I laughed out loud when I saw this post title..you are f'ing hilarious! Hmmmm my fav drugstore lotion is burts bees! They have one that has shimmer in it as well and makes your legs look all nice and tan without having a sunless tanner in it..plus BB is a pretty reputable company and not too too pricey :)

  31. Ugh, I was so mad when they stopped making the St. Ives Whipped Silk Lotion. I've been using that for over 8 years. I recently got the St. Ives Restoring 24-Hour Lotion, and it does the trick. It's a little thicker than the Whipped Silk, but it's grown on me.

  32. I love Vaseline Cocoa Butter. When I don't want to spend too much I use Suave Lotions. I think they work really well considering the low cost.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I use the Vaseline lotion in the blue bottle before pageants, and it works really good.
For everyday I use the generic brand of extra moisturizing lotion, I'm pretty sure the name brand is St. Ives. But the generic at wal-mart is just a few dollars for a huge bottle, and works so good.

  34. Jergens Oatmeal & Shea Butter. It is so moisturizing and wonderful!

  35. Jergens!!! The cherry one, or something...it's light green. It's the best!!!

  36. I love Olay Quench and the St. Ives new one that is coconut milk and orchid. I used to use the Whipped Silk body lotion and body wash. I'm pretty sure I cried when they stopped selling it.

  37. Alright so I'm late to this party butttttt as a lotion connoisseur I wanted to give my 2 cents. :) I am a huge huge huge fan of Johnson & Johnson deep care hydration lotion. Love how well it moisturizes without being greasy and taking 12 years to rub in. I have more acreage than most and use lotion daily. Give it a try, it's only like $5 and smells pretty good too!

  38. I buy Aveno. It's cheaper at Sam's. I stock up when they offer guest passing or when i can tag along with family who have memberships.
